3 Amigos Relay Sash:
The 3 Amigos Relay uses a ceremonial sash as the official baton. Each team receives one sash at Packet Pickup, and it must be worn across the chest by the active runner at all times. Exchanges take place inside the marked chutes at Woods Loop (Mile 4.38) and Piute (Mile 8.76). The sash symbolizes teamwork, unity, and the shared journey across the 13.1‑mile course. Teams must complete the race with the sash to be officially scored.

How the Sash Exchange Works:
Each relay team receives one sash at Packet Pickup. The sash must be passed between teammates at the designated Exchange Zones.
Exchange Procedure
• Incoming runner enters the marked chute wearing the sash.
• Both runners must remain inside the chute during the handoff.
• The sash is transferred hand‑to‑hand, then placed across the chest of the outgoing runner.
• Outgoing runner must exit the chute before beginning their leg.

RELAY TEAM GUIDE
Everything your team needs to know to have a smooth, fun, and legal relay experience.
Non-running teammates must use the official shuttle system or arrange their own transport to reach exchange zones. Personal vehicle access to exchange zone areas may be limited — plan ahead and arrive early.
Runners waiting at exchange zones should arrive at least 30 minutes early. Know your teammate's expected pace so you're warmed up and ready. Exchange zones close when the course sweep vehicle passes.
Each relay team member may use the Gear Bag Drop at the start line to store items that will be transported to the finish. Label your bag clearly with your bib number and team name.
All relay runners receive individual bibs. Only the active runner (wearing the sash) should be on the course. Wristbands are required for access to exchange zones — pick them up at Packet Pickup with the sash.
Santa Fe sits at 7,000 ft elevation. All team members should hydrate well the day before and dress in layers for the cool early morning. Sunscreen is essential once the sun rises — UV intensity is high.
All 3 teammates receive a finisher medal! Non-running teammates may join the active runner for the final 100 meters. Meet at the finish village at SITE Santa Fe for the post-race celebration and awards.
Review these requirements carefully. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
