PART 1 — START LINE GEAR DROP

Safely store your post-race essentials before the race begins

STEP 1

Use the Official Clear Bag

You MUST use the official clear plastic gear bag received at packet pickup. No other bags, backpacks, or suitcases will be accepted.

STEP 2

Label with Your Bib Number

Write your bib number large and clear in the designated box using a permanent marker. Attach the adhesive gear tag from your bib to the bag handle.

STEP 3

Pack Light & Secure

Pack only loose, non-valuable items — a sweatshirt, change of clothes, fresh socks, recovery sandals. Tie the bag securely shut.

STEP 4

Drop Off by 7:00 AM Sharp

Drop area opens at 6:00 AM at Romero’s Park near the start line, for Half and Relay runners. Bags organized by bib range, then trucked to the finish at Reunity Resources. Last bags loaded at 7:00 AM — don't be late!

NO VALUABLES ALLOWED

We strongly advise: do NOT pack irreplaceable, fragile, or high-value items. The gear bag service is provided as a courtesy — we are not responsible for lost or damaged items.

PART 2 — FINISH LINE PICKUP

Claim your gear bag at Reunity Resources Farm after crossing the finish line

STEP 1

Head to Reunity Resources Farm

After crossing the finish line and receiving your medal, follow signage to the post-race finisher village at Reunity Resources Farm. Look for the Gear Bag Retrieval area near the festival stage.

STEP 2

Find Your Bib Range

Locate the specific tent or pickup station designated for your bib number range. Stations are organized numerically to make retrieval quick and efficient.

STEP 3

Show Your Race Bib

You MUST present your official race bib to the volunteer to claim your bag. Your bib is your claim ticket — no exceptions will be made.

STEP 4

Confirm Your Bag

Verify the bib number on the bag before leaving. All bags must be retrieved by 1:00 PM. Unclaimed bags move to the Race Administration tent for 30 minutes.

Stay Warm After the Finish

Change into your dry clothes as soon as possible — your body temperature drops quickly once you stop running. You've earned that warm hoodie! Cutoff time for pickup: 1:00 PM sharp.

Dress for Santa Fe in September

Race morning is high-desert weather at 7,000 feet: temperatures in the 40s at the 7:30 AM start, warming toward 70 by midday under a strong sun and very dry air. The right layers are the difference between a cold hour before the gun and a comfortable morning.

Before the Start

Dress for the wait, not the race. Arrive in a warm layer you can spare — an old long-sleeve, or warm clothes you drop in the official clear gear bag by 7:00 AM. Standing at Romero’s Park at 6:30 AM is chilly even when the afternoon will be warm.

On the Course

Light, breathable layers you can shed, plus a cap or visor, sunglasses, and sunscreen — the sun at this elevation is stronger than the thermometer suggests. Dry air evaporates sweat fast, so you are losing more fluid than you feel. Drink at every aid station.

Racing at 7,000 Feet

The thin air makes every effort feel a notch harder, especially if you arrive from sea level. Start a step more conservatively than at home, hydrate all week, and give yourself a couple of easy days in town before the race if you can.

Ready to Race?

Your gear bag is ready — now secure your spot at the start line.

Attention, Runners!

To make your race day smooth and comfortable, please review these crucial details regarding the Gear Bag Drop at the start and retrieval at the finish. The gear bag service is for Half Marathon and 3-Amigos Relay runners only. 5K runners park at Reunity Resources Farm, where the 5K both starts and finishes, so there is no 5K bag drop and none is needed.

PART 1: THE START LINE GEAR DROP

Safely Store Your Dry Post-Race Essentials

Your post-race recovery starts before the race. Make sure you have your dry clothes and comfort items waiting for you at the Reunity Resources Farm finish.

Important Procedures:

  1. Use the Official Clear Bag: You must use the official, clear plastic gear bag you received at packet pickup. To ensure safety and efficiency, no other bags, backpacks, or suitcases will be accepted.

  2. Label Properly:

    • Write your bib number large and clear in the designated box on the bag using a permanent marker.

    • Detach the specific adhesive gear tag from your bib and stick it securely to the bag handle or top seam.

  3. Pack Light & Secure: Pack only loose, non-valuable items like a sweatshirt, change of clothes, fresh socks, and recovery sandals. Ensure the bag is securely tied shut and not overstuffed.

  4. Drop-Off Logistics:

    • When: The Gear Bag Drop area is open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM on race morning.

    • Where: Look for the marked Gear Drop trucks or tents on Romero’s Park, near the start line entrance area.

    • Organization: The drop-off is organized numerically. Deliver your bag to the specific station matching your bib number range (e.g., “Bibs 1–1000”).

    • Be On Time! The last bags must be loaded onto the trucks by 7:00 AM sharp. Do not wait until the last minute, as lines will be long.
